RapidShare temporarily changes the traffic limit to 4 GB per day
According to a reply from RapidShare support to one of our readers, pakoGax (riendose at hotmail.com), RapidShare imposed a temporary traffic limit on premium users. All premium account users can download maximum 4 GB per day.
Here a copy of the email provided by pakoGax :
Hello,
Due to the rising usage of our infrastructure we are extending our bandwidth
capacity’s. Since this process is time consuming we have decided to
temporarily change the traffic limit to 4 GB per day. This allows all Premium
Users to again experience the high downloading speeds our service provides.

Yeah, i got the message also the last evening:s
but when does they start on having 10gb limit again? 4gb is way less than what i download every day:s and i only have a 2mbit connection…
come on rapidshare speed up!!!:D

Come on RS, don’t jockey with these changes. We are paying customers, not free loaders. If you need to add more capacity add it, but don’t reduce the level of service.
Also, as you have told us that you will not refund any prepaid premium user fees, why don’t you offer the users a CREDIT, 6G for each day (10G-4G), so that the Premium user could get what he paid for.
This will not cost RS any money, and will keep the Premium user happy.
It’s taking over a week now, so went in discussion with them.
We are not getting anything back. And I don’t like it as they violate their services. You paid for 10gb and only getting 4gb.

I have gone through 4 long term successive memberships with rapidshare and had been completely happy with their services. I even told friends to get the service and they did and WERE happy too. But the 4gb limit is just foolish for someone who pays premium to get premium. Why should I pay for their mismanagement?! Personally I do not believe that premium users are having unbalanced downloads that need to be shared across the spectrum. I have friends in multiple places around the world that reported no problems with the speeds. This is just a nother tactic to cheapen everything and make more money and I say most likely they will not return to 10+ GB. Me and all of my rapidshare friends are unhappy and are about ready to leave the service of rapidshare. Im sure megaupload and deposit files will be happy to have our business
True. They now changed to 5GB, it will take till September to finnish the updates.

Megaupload is a good alternative, deposit files or Uploaded.to.
I am just trying to figure out if I can bring it to the court. I paid for a service which I am not (completely) getting.
Just in from the news, they raised to 5 GB (weak IMO) and said it will take until September!!!!!!! before they get back to normal service.

You have the possibility to convert your RapidPoints for additional traffic.
Every point is worth 15 megabyte. The maximum amount of traffic which can be
added to your account is displayed in your premium zone
Every Premium Account receives 5000 MB traffic volume each day.
The maximum amount that can be collected is 30 GB.
Once you have reached the limit you have to wait until 00:00 CET of the next
day to receive the next 5000 MB. In certain circumstances your download volume
can be overdrawn. In this case the overdrawn amount is subtracted from the
next day credit.
Traffic Example:
Day 1 5000 MB New Account, no Downloads
Day 2 10000 MB No Downloads
Day 3 10000 MB 5000 MB has been downloaded
Day 4 15000 MB No Downloads
With the link “View Logs” in the premium zone you can see how much you have
downloaded on each day and from what IP-address.
If there are IP-addresses listed that you do not know, please change your
password (and maybe your e-mail address) in the premium zone using the link
“settings” and make sure that your computer and email-address are secure so
nobody could access your RapidShare-account.

did RS reduce their downloading speed too? Thank God, I was thinking to be a paid customer of RS. I wouldn’t buy it’s premium account until they fix, whatever, the problem is.
Well since i paid for my service via paypal i wonder if i can get a refund since rapidshare are in violation no mention of 5gb daily download when i signed up also stated 50 gb weekly allowance ive downloaded under 4gb and now get traffic limit reached bullshit
I have been a rapidshare user for a while now. My account expired not so long ago, and i was away an unable to renew it. so when i come back to get another account, paid for for 6 month, now i see i can only download 2.6GB a day. My work moves large files from one place to the next, (probably around 6GB a day)!!!! Not much is said on there home page about the limits one can download. You have t go through all the small print to eventaully find out that your limit is now no longer the same. This is daylight robbery!!!! What a waste of my money.Wonder if ill get a refund for this….. RAPIDSHARE YOU JUST PUT THE NAILS IN YOUR OWN COFFIN. Time to move on to a service that can fullfill my needs!
I recently bought a premium membership under the illusion that it would be “”unlimited”" it is all a big f*ing scam excuse my language but I bought a month to check it out was very happy with it then all of a sudden all downloads stop and i’m told I have exceeded my daily allowance checked all around there website to see if I had missed any small print and no where it said that there was any daily allowance I was so angry that I sent a email of complaint and was informed that thats basically just the way it goes and that I have a 2.5 gig daily allowance its absolutely terrible well they just lost a potential customer as I was about to subscribe to a year membership but no chance i’m getting my last few files from them until the month runs out and i’m gone even if they do change it back to the way it was I will still never go back you cant just go promising paying customers things then soon as there stuck in a contract just screw them over we pay for them to upgrade what ever they need why should we suffer because of there complete and utter incompetence.
Is anybody know is it posible to claim refund from Paypal ?
Im just extended my rapidshare account for year and got limits i can only download 2.6GB a day.
I have been getting this message for the last four (4) days. ‘Your IP address 71.119.133.121 is already downloading a file. Please wait until the download is completed’. Is there a way to reset this ‘IP’ problem back to normal?

Thats not even good enough to do a quick grab of a HD-TV rip.
Sadly, RS is going to the dogs too. I am cancelling my account asap!
I did not know about the limit when i paid for an account. trying to find out what time it resets?!? Not even enough for a DVD. Not sure if I’ll get another account…..
I start to get this error message just today and says it will reset in 24 hours but I emailed RS to see why it went from 4 gig, to 5 then now down to 2.6.
hopefully they reply with a decent response and quick, easy solution.

Hola amigos del foro, hoy me ha sucedido algo imposible de creer. desde hace varios meses he bajado sin control archivos por Rapidshare hasta 10 gb. por día pero ahora me aparece la leyenda “RapidShare tu límite de tráfico es de 2.66 GB por día”, ya no me deja acompletar nada. de haber sabido ni pago mi cliente Premium hasta por un año que vence a mediados del 2009.
Me quedo a mitad de la descarga. Que se hace en éstos casos??
Rapidshare is doing deceitful publicity. When you subscribe there’s not a single indication that you’ll have a lame and ridiculous 2.6Gb daily limit. Today I joined in, and I was really surprised by such a low limit. I could accept 10gb… although it’s not that good too! Well at least I only subscribed for a month so one month it will be… then, I’ll keep rapidshare as a good link for smaller files. That’s a shame ’cause I used to like it…

Holy F*** just bought premium for a month and now I know there’s a 2.66 GB per day download limit?!!! Are they joking goddamit. Not even enough for a Bluray movie seriously?! I would move on to another download site but all the movie download links I know are for rapidshare! what do i do now?

If all of you leaves yours premium accounts of rapidshare, then the daily limit will increase pretty soon, it’s clear that they want to take advantage of being one of the most famous sites to download large files.
So they actually doing the opposite of preventing crackers of searching and creating programs of how to crack this ridiculus limit of 2.66gb per day!!If i was a cracker I would be the first of them who could do such a thing!Very unpleased although the speed are cool still…
Yesterday I bought my RS premium account for 3 months… and started to download some very large images, and W T F, after some time I see the limit exceeded message… For god sake, 2.66GB????? why the hell I pay for such a ridiculous limitation? I feel VERY dissapointed and robbed.

I just got wind of this today!!! and I am shocked. I have been using RS for years and I agree that this is just another way for them to make money and stiff us, and to think in this time when money is tight. I am going to find out if I can get a refund through Paypal. If anyone knows, post it up so others can show RS how bad they have screwed up.
Thats insane. I just signed up for rapidshare with no idea about this limit. I have access to a dynamic IP, had i known of this limit i wouldve saved my money, and just downloaded as a free user. What a rip.
I have RS & MU. As far as I’m concern MU is far better.
But MU is limited in quantity
download 10gb perday..then 5gb..then 2.6gb..
Soon they will give only 10mb per-day…
